What you need to know about Sunrooms and Screen Rooms

Screen Room vs Sunroom

Many homeowners have a concrete slab on their patio and want to build an enclosure over it. Screen rooms and Sunrooms are the most popular option but there is a big difference between both. The most common type is the screen room because they are cheaper.

The difference between the sunroom and screen room is that the sunroom adds acrylic sliders and a prime door so that the patio is enclosed. The sunroom gives you versatility because you can keep the acrylic sliders open to enjoy the fresh air or close the sliders and insulate the room.

The sunroom does better for keeping out rain and allowing the area to be used as a craft room, home office, spare room, etc. The screen rooms are made of aluminum panels, downspouts, kickplates, screen doors, screening, and an aluminum roof. The sunroom is made of everything that the screen room has but instead adds acrylic sliders and a prime door that helps better insulate the patio room.

The best all-around option is definitely to have a sunroom built because of the versatility to use it as a screen room or an insulated room. The acrylic sliders are great against rain and thunderstorms but are not hurricane-proof. If you’re looking for a cheaper option then I suggest the screen room. If you want to add more money to your budget it is worth going for a sunroom for the added benefits.
